SEALING
YOUR MEMBERSHIP IN THE O.A.
As
a member in the Order of the Arrow
you are a member of Scouting's National Honor Society
All
members of the Order of the Arrow are equal: there are no
ranks and all members are entitled to all the rights and
privileges of membership in the Order. However as the Ordeal
membership is a ?eginning? the fulfillment of your membership
in the Order is by becoming a Brotherhood member.
After
10 months of service to your Troop and the Lodge and fulfilling
certain requirements, a member may take part in the Brotherhood
ceremony, which places further emphasis on the ideals of
Scouting and the Order. Completion of this ceremony at one
of the two annual Ordeals scheduled in the Talako Lodge
signifies your full membership in the OA.
When
you are ready, your Lodge is eager to encourage and help
you prepare for Brotherhood membership. You can obtain more
information from either the Lodge Chief or the Lodge Adviser.
Convenient
help is also available at a special area of the national
OA web site which has been created to help new members of
the Order of the Arrow learn about the OA. The "Jumpstart
for New Arrowmen" area provides an introduction to the Order
and its programs, and assists new members in sealing their
membership in Brotherhood.
